Vernacular Architecture?

I am currently working rebranding an architecture firm, and my approach is to create a brand identity that is based on essentialism. My research has led me to doing a deep dive into vernacular architecture and its pros and cons.

There is an obvious shift towards imported styles of building and approach to space in Ghana. This is clearly creating other problems like the inefficient use of energy, a loss of our spacial identity and a lack of solutions that harness the pros of living in a tropical country like Ghana.

Is this a phenomenon created by the designers of our spaces, the financiers or just a general disregard for design thinking?

Vernacular architecture should become more and more appreciated if we are to solve the varied related problems that this imported approach to building is causing for our country.

A vernacular approach will embrace local materials and textures, create more sustainable buildings, a reduced cost of maintenance, improvement of local skilled labor and reduce that pseudo sense of wealth created by foreign styled buildings.
